Shreveport Artist Partners with Caddo Commissioner to Launch Art Initiative Against Violence

Shreveport, LA - Shreveport artist Charmel Lester has partnered with Caddo Parish Commissioner Stormy Gage Watts to create a fabric mural that will be unveiled on Thursday, April 15. The artist hopes that the public art project will create a sense of community and encourage her fellow Shreveporters to stop the violence. The mural is the first of a series of community-based art installations in the artist’s new community-based art initiative, The S.K.E.O. Project. The acronym stands for Stop Killing Each Other. Fabric artists from several states answered the public artist call posted late March, in support of the project. The fabric mural will be unveiled on Thursday, April 15 at 12 noon at Stormy’s Car Wash located at 3903 Greenwood Road. The popular business is owned by Caddo Parish Commissioner Stormy Gage Watts.
